INTRODUCTION (See Table of Contents for Blogs Below)
Eleanor Roosevelt wrote “My Day,” a national syndicated newspaper column, from December 31, 1935 until September 26, 1962 – six days a week until January 1961, then three days a week thereafter. This is over 26 years! Some say she was the original blogger.
Blogs are written to be read and commented upon. So it was with her My Day column. People wrote Eleanor over 300,000 letters in response to her columns. With the help of her staff, she answered many of them.
The author of these blogs, unless otherwise specified on the blog as a guest blogger, is Kirk Boyd, the CEO/Founder of Eleanor Lives! The purpose is dialogue to inspire action. Eleanor constructed a strong foundation, and the goal here is to facilitate others, internationally, to build upon it, following her guidance that “It is only by encouraging others to go along that changes are accomplished and work is done.”
Looking at daily events, and published only twice a week, one third of Eleanor’s six, the blogs often ask the reader to consider “What would Eleanor do?” so we can use her guidance to help us decide what path to take.
This is not to say with certainty what Eleanor would do in all instances. Eleanor was a movement builder. What she looked for most was courage and imagination, opinion and action, as she said: “It is always wise, I think, if you feel something is wrong, to try to stand up for what you believe is right.” This blog does that.
The blog entries are numbered and titled for ease of review on a particular topic, in reverse chronological order with the most recent blog at top after this Introduction. The first 10 blogs define the essence of the planning, program and philosophy of Eleanor Lives!
One reason that Eleanor was beloved as the “First Lady for the World” is that she believed that every person, in every country, has a voice that should heard. Let us hear yours. She said: “It is not alone the few warmongers who create the danger; it is, to a much greater extent, the apathetic.”
Do not be among the apathetic, or even among those who reflect, but do not act. Take a minute and follow in her footsteps by making a comment in support of the legacy of Eleanor, and others, to design and build and International Bill of Rights, enforceable in the courts of all countries.”
Thank you.

Susanna Lea says
Hello Kirk!
I’m overwhelmed by your achievements for humanity – notwithstanding Mr. Clark’s 1974 prediction that you’d amount to nothing >:-(
I’d really like to see this project incorporate protection from domestic abuse into the concept of the Right to Dignity. I’m sure Eleanor (my Mom’s idol) would approve.
Keep up the good work.
